Lecturer, Greek and Latin



The Department of Classical, Near Eastern and Religious Studies at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver campus) is seeking applications for a one-year leave replacement Lecturer position in Greek and Latin Languages.  This 1-year appointment is expected to commence September 1, 2018. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

A Lecturer position is a non-tenure track appointment, which entails a probationary first year. Reappointment would be at the discretion of the University and subject to availability of funding and demonstration of excellence in teaching, in accordance with the Collective Agreement between UBC and the UBC Faculty Association.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Classical Studies or a related field, and teaching experience.  The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to teaching and be able to teach both introductory and advanced Greek and Latin. This position involves teaching eight 3-credit courses (i.e., a total of 24 credits across the period of appointment) and participating in student advising, departmental service, events and initiatives.
