The AMNE department is thrilled to congratulate Ashley Samsone for winning the highly competitive Outstanding Student Leader in the Faculty of Arts award for 2023!
In her capacity as the current VP and former President of the AMNE Student Association since 2017, Ashley has played an integral role in the cohesion of our AMNE community. She is responsible for establishing and maintaining a number of annual events, such as AMNE’s Myth Night, Alumni Night, and the Inclusivity and Accessibility in Education Workshops. The last is a collaboration of AMNE faculty and students wherein students learn integral skills, such as archaeological drawing and handling ancient texts. The event is designed to make important archaeological skills accessible to those who might not be able to work abroad in the field.
Ashley has also served on the Student Alumni Council and is currently the undergraduate representative for the AMNE Equity and Social Justice Committee. In addition, she has been a key member of LOGOS, AMNE’s undergraduate journal, since 2020.
We’re delighted to see Ashley’s tireless efforts be recognized in this way, and we hope you will join us in congratulating her!
