AMNE’s Experiencing Antiquity project receives SCS Ancient Worlds, Modern Communities grant!

Warm congratulations are in order for AMNE’s Experiencing Antiquity project (formerly From Stone to Screen)! The project was selected as one of the projects funded by the SCS Ancient Worlds, Modern Communities grant.

The grant will allow the team to rehouse the artifact collection here at AMNE, and create an accessible online platform with lesson plans and materials for local educators to use in their own classrooms. The team is hoping to use this work to pilot a full outreach program aimed at local schools in the near future.

According to the SCS’s website, the grant is for “projects that focus on long traditions of engagement with ancient Mediterranean culture that have been excluded from classics curricula; projects proposed by rather than for historically underrepresented minoritized communities; interdisciplinary collaborations; artistic projects and creative adaptations; projects involving global reception and comparative approaches; and projects that are critical of classics as it has been practiced and structured as a discipline.”

Congratulations again to the Experiencing Antiquity team. We are thrilled to see and support the future endeavors of this project.
