AMNE welcomes Dr. Rachel Philbrick as Assistant Professor of Latin Literature

She is wearing a black shirt and red lipstick.The Department of Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies is thrilled to welcome Dr. Rachel Philbrick to UBC, effective July 2024, as Assistant Professor of Latin Literature. Dr. Philbrick holds a Ph.D. from Brown University and is currently Lecturer at Harvard University. Dr. Philbrick’s impressive research and publication record focuses on Latin poetry, particularly elegy and epic. She has written on topics ranging from Ovid and Tibullus to Greek epigram, and her current projects include a monograph on Ovid’s exile poetry and a volume on manipulation of time in Roman literature. Dr. Philbrick brings tremendous new depth and breadth to our department, and we look forward to learning and researching alongside her in the years to come. Welcome, Dr. Philbrick!
