AMNE Welcomes Dr. Isaac Soon as our new Assistant Professor of Early Christianity

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Isaac Soon will be joining AMNE in July as our new Assistant Professor of Early Christianity.

Dr. Soon earned his PhD in Theology and Religion (New Testament) from Durham University in 2021 and comes to us from Crandall University, where he has been an Assistant Professor. He focuses on early Christianity (especially Paul), drawing on methods and approaches from disability studies, within the broader contexts of ancient history of the Hellenistic and Roman eras. He brings an impressive publication record at this early career stage, including his recent monograph A Disabled Apostle: Impairment and Disability in the Letters of Paul (Oxford University Press, 2023) and several articles in top journals such as the Journal of Biblical Literature, Novum Testamentum, and New Testament Studies. He is currently working on a second monograph and has several other papers in progress. Dr. Soon has impressive teaching credentials and is significantly involved in the Society of Biblical Literature and other scholarly organizations. Dr. Soon grew up in nearby Surrey, BC, and we are excited to welcome him to UBC in the coming months.
